Settled-close edition · The harvest trade comes home — the GLW-versus-MSFT structure is re-established a hundred dollars below where June 30 closed it, and the book adds three pairs into a still-elevated crude tape

Today’s observances: National Tequila Day; National Drive-Thru Day; and National Cousins Day. Marks: all figures are the July 24, 2026 New York settled close, day changes against the July 23 settled close.

On June 30 the book harvested the GLW-versus-MSFT structure at a Corning price of $255.43. Today, with Corning at $146.65, it put the trade back on. The Harvest Shadow exists to keep that kind of decision honest — and today it records the harvest as $390,566 better than holding would have been, even as the book re-enters the same expression a hundred dollars lower.

All dashboard levels are July 24, 2026 New York settled closes from a single source (yfinance batch OHLC); the Yahoo v8 chart API did not confirm for this historical date, so this edition is single-source by exception. The distillate crack spread is front-month ULSD times forty-two, less front-month WTI, in dollars per barrel. Day changes are measured against the July 23 settled close.

I. The Harvest Trade Comes Home

The book did something today it has not done since the June 30 sweep: it re-established the trade that built the register. Three new pairs opened at the settled close, all at exactly one hundred thousand dollars per side. P42 is long Corning ("GLW") against short Microsoft ("MSFT") — the same structure as the harvested P1 and P13 — but where June 30 closed that expression with Corning at $255.43, today it goes back on with Corning at $146.65. That is not a new thesis. It is the same thesis re-entered a hundred and nine dollars lower, after the fall that the Harvest Shadow has spent a month documenting.

Alongside it, P43 pairs long BlackRock ("BLK") against short Microsoft, and P44 pairs long Generac ("GNRC") against short Amazon ("AMZN"). Both are $100,000 per side at the close. A note on concentration worth stating plainly: Microsoft is now the short leg on both P42 and P43, five hundred twenty-four shares in aggregate, so the book is deliberately doubled on that short. That is a position, not an accident, and it should be sized with eyes open.

II. Crude Stays High, the Curve Stays Heavy

The macro backdrop into which these pairs opened is not the quiet tape of mid-month. West Texas Intermediate settled at $89.31 and Brent at $96.78 — crude has continued to climb well past the strait-spike levels of two weeks ago, and the distillate crack spread at $86.28 remains wide even after easing on the day. The ten-year par yield sits at 4.68 percent, richer than the 4.5-to-4.6 range of the prior week, and the long end has stayed heavy. This is closer to the vigilante configuration the register was built around: elevated crude, a firm long yield, and a market pricing the oil complex as an inflation input rather than a growth threat. The re-entered GLW structure and the two new pairs step into that regime rather than a calm one.

III. The Pair Book — 29 Active

Twenty-nine active pairs per the v7 canonical book of record. Day is the July 23 to July 24 settled move; QTD is measured from the June 30 settled close per the period-baseline rule; pairs marked † (P39 through P44) were opened during the quarter and their QTD is inception-to-date. The three new pairs (P42, P43, P44) opened at today’s close and therefore show zero day and zero unrealized. Exact inception share counts throughout; zero notional approximation. Ranked by unrealized profit and loss.

BOOK — 29 active pairs +$470.09 +$170,998.87 −$20,849.56

The book was flat on the day at +$470.09 — the three new pairs contributing nothing yet by construction — but the story is in the level, not the day. Quarter-to-date the book stands at +$170,998.87; active unrealized is −$20,849.56 against the frozen realized register of +$487,933.25, for an inception-to-date result of $467,083.69. The active unrealized has recovered dramatically from the −$110,000 trough of mid-month, as the fall in Corning fed the short-technology structures and the refiner pairs held their crude-driven gains. The book is closer to whole on its open positions than it has been all quarter.

IV. Harvest Shadow — the Edge Stands at $390,566.32

The standing counterfactual: the ten pairs closed at the June 30 settled-close sweep, marked forward as though the harvest had never happened, exits frozen at their actual June 30 prints. Through the July 24 close the harvest decision is +$390,566.32 better than holding would have been — a new high for the edge, and a fitting one on the day the book re-enters the trade. Corning has fallen from $255.43 at the June 30 exit to $146.65 today; had the harvested pairs been held, that fall would have erased most of their realized gains. P1 alone (long Corning against short Microsoft) shows a $137,224 edge from having closed when it did. The re-entered P42 is a bet that the next hundred dollars of that Corning story runs the other way.

V. What to Watch

Whether the re-entered Corning long marks the bottom or catches a falling knife — P42 is a deliberate bet that $146.65 is a better basis than $255.43 was a top, and the next several sessions will begin to say. Whether the doubled Microsoft short across P42 and P43 is sized right for a name that has held up through the semiconductor pullback. And whether crude at $89 with a 4.68 percent ten-year keeps the vigilante register firing — the configuration is now the one the register was built for, and the book has just added three pairs into it.

Build note: all dashboard and pair-book figures are marked to the Friday, July 24, 2026 New York settled close, with day changes against the July 23 settled close. Marks are single-source (yfinance batch OHLC); the Yahoo v8 chart API did not confirm for this historical date, so this edition is single-source by exception rather than the usual two-source confirmation. The ten-year yield is the Treasury daily par yield. Pair entry data is the v7 canonical book of record (29 active pairs); the three new Tranche 11 pairs (P42 long GLW / short MSFT, P43 long BLK / short MSFT, P44 long GNRC / short AMZN) were opened at $100,000 per side on the July 24 settled close. Harvest Shadow inception fills are the v5 canonical book of June 30; SOXS legs are computed on the pre-July-15 reverse-split basis. Exact inception share counts throughout; zero notional approximation. Realized register frozen at +$487,933.25.
